Some of the programs offered by the Brenton Arboretum require a great deal of walking. We offer motorized transportation to anyone needing assistance.
If you need assistance, please call the Brenton Arboretum at 515-992-4211. Reservations required, so we can provide staff assistance.

*Free nature activities for kids 5 to 12 years old with adult participating in these programs. Pre-registration is required.

MAY 2008

Northern Migration Bird Walk
Saturday, May 3rd
7:30 – 10:30 AM

Bird watchers should bring binoculars, appropriate clothing for weather conditions and a keen eye to spot ducks, meadowlarks, warblers, wrens, chickadees and other species. If you need a pair of binoculars for yourself or a guest please let us know; we have several pair to share. The walk is led by Iowa Ornithologist Union member, John Bissell.


JUNE 2008

Identifying Trees with Leaves
Saturday, June 14th, 10:00 AM until 12:00

Heidi Anderson, Polk County Conservation

Learn how to identify trees using leaves and a dichotomous key. 


JULY 2008

Water Monitoring Workshop Level I
Friday Evening, July 18th and Saturday, July 19th
Registrations are being accepted now.
