Discover the Natural World of Trees

An Arboretum is a place where trees and shrubs are grown for research, demonstration and education. The Brenton Arboretum combines the horticultural study of trees with a commitment to natural landscape management and conservation. Visitors to this public Arboretum study the 2,000 trees, all suitable for planting in central Iowa, surrounded by a beautiful, natural setting of native prairie, wetlands, a lake, pond and streams.

Visitors Are Welcome

Visitors to The Brenton Arboretum enjoy over 5 miles of walking trails. These trails lead over stream bridges, meander through prairie grasses, follow the edge of Homestead Lake and Overlook Pond and will take you among our trees. Sit a moment on a bench or chair and relax to the quite sounds of nature. Bring a picnic to enjoy in the shelter of our green roof pavilion. Let The Brenton Arboretum become your place to discover trees and the natural world that surrounds them.
