This Pavilion Grows a Green Roof
The roof of the pavilion was designed to hold
5 inches of soil, a drainage system and thousands of plants; sedums, wildflowers and grasses. Referred to as a green roof, this new type of roof system reduces urban pollution and provides thermal insulation. The Brenton Arboretum Pavilion, with its curved shape
and smaller size, allows visitors a good look
at a green roof and the hardy plants on top.
Open to the Public
The pavilion provides a place for visitors to meet with friends and family, have a picnic, watch birds or wait out a passing rain shower. The pavilion is open to visitors unless reserved for private or Arboretum events.
