Our educational classes are outdoors.

Educational classes and special events are offered at the Arboretum throughout the year. From family walking tours, bird walks, to advanced botanical observations, we offer educational opportunities of interest for all ages and interests.

Winter Tree Anatomy Walk

How to Prune Trees and shrubs
Wednesday March 10th
5:00 PM until 6:30 PM
Andy Schmitz, horticultural director of the Brenton Arboretum will share some of his techniques for pruning trees.

Monitoring Tree Leaf Out and Flower
Saturday, March 13th
10:00 AM unil 12:00 Noon
Join volunteer tree stewards and learn about phenology and how you can observe and record information about trees.

Adding Flower Diversity to a Reconstructed Prairie
Saturday, March 27th

With Jon Judson, Diversity Farms Inc
Jon has prepared a plan to introduce new forbes to our tall grass prairie and to suppress the spread of some of the aggressive grasses.
